What is a Cobbler?
A cobbler is similar to what is generally called pie or crumble. Its roots can be traced back to early British American colonies. The British created this recipe out of a need to find a substitute for the traditional suet puddings they were used to having. It has since evolved into this family-favourite dessert that has been tweaked and modified in so man beautiful ways.

Strawberry Cobbler
The crust recipe stays consistent while the choice of fruit is hugely dependant on which fruit is in its peak season. I got a huge basket of fresh strawberries at a farmer’s market near me, hence my strawberry cobbler. Feel free to substitute strawberries for any other fruit of choice.
Ingredients needed for Strawberry Cobbler
Between your pantry and the nearest grocery store, the ingredients needed for a strawberry cobbler are easy to find. Here’s what you’ll need:
Strawberries
Do NOT be tempted to use frozen strawberries for this recipe, please!!! Okay, I didn’t mean to yell. Fresh strawberries are best for the cobbler. The frozen ones release a lot of moisture which will affect the crispy crust we are aiming to achieve. After rinsing and hulling them, cut each strawberry into fours and coat generously with sugar.
All-Purpose Flour
If you prefer the flavour from any other type of flour, you can use, otherwise, regular all-purpose flour does the job.
Unsalted Butter
Melt your unsalted butter prior to adding.
Milk
I use whole milk in this recipe, you can make use of any other type of milk you prefer. the milk will need to be warmed up slightly.
Sugar
Regular granulated sugar to coat the strawberries with, and in the mixing of the batter.
Baking Powder & Vanilla Extract
Baking powder is the only rising agent you will need for this recipe and a half teaspoon of vanilla extract.
The ingredients come together fairly quickly. In addition to the aforementioned ingredients, will be your favourite toppings such as ice cream, whipped cream etc.
